DISTRICT INTRODUCTION TO SEA LEVEL RISE PRESENTATIONS
At their March 2021 meeting, the District’s Board of Directors heard from the County of Marin Community Development Agency (CDA) about their response to sea level rise. Stinson Beach could experience up to 10 feet of sea level rise by 2100, making it one of many Marin County communities prioritizing climate change adaptation. View that presentation here.
The CDA recently received a $396,000 Coastal Resilience Grant that will fund a new sea level rise response project, the Stinson Beach Adaptation and Resilience Collaboration (ARC). The effort gets underway next month and continues through June 2024, with public involvement being a key component. Stay tuned for further news!
The Board also heard from its wastewater engineer and a local consultant who are teamed up to look into the long-range effects of rising seas on low-lying Stinson Beach wastewater systems, the responsibility of property owners. Public health and safety stipulate that the District be prepared by assessing all issues and collaborating with local agencies. These presentations can be accessed here and here.
